What is the Kissan Card?
The Kissan Card is a Punjab government programme delivered with the Bank of Punjab. It gives registered small farmers access to interest-free financing so they can buy agricultural inputs such as seed, fertiliser and pesticide without paying markup.
Key features as published
- Interest-free financing through a card issued by the Bank of Punjab.
- A six-month card cycle linked to the cropping season.
- Up to Rs 150,000 per season, with a limit of Rs 30,000 per acre.
- For farmers who own or cultivate roughly 1 to 12.5 acres.
Figures above come from official Punjab government and bank publications, but programme terms can change by season. Check with the bank or the Agriculture Department.
How to check and apply

Example: planning a season's inputs
A farmer with 5 acres could be eligible for up to Rs 30,000 per acre, which is Rs 150,000 in total, the same as the per-season cap. A farmer with 3 acres could get up to Rs 90,000. If the farmer spends that on seed, fertiliser and pesticide at approved dealers and repays within the season, no markup is charged under the published terms. Compare that with a commercial loan: the same Rs 150,000 at 18% for six months could cost up to about Rs 13,500 in markup, which you can test in the loan EMI calculator.
Tips for farmers
- Buy only the inputs your crop calendar needs and keep receipts.
- Repay on time to protect eligibility next season.
- Use soil testing to avoid over-fertilising.
- Keep your CNIC and land records (such as Fard) ready.
Land units
Land is measured in acres, kanals and marlas. One acre is 8 kanal, and one kanal is 20 marla, so 1 acre = 160 marla. Convert units with the unit converter, and measure income per acre with the profit calculator.
