Calculator Usage
How do I use the scientific functions like sin, cos, and tan?
To use trigonometric functions:
- Enter the angle value you want to calculate
- Click the corresponding function button (sin, cos, or tan)
- The result will appear immediately
Tip
Our calculator automatically converts angles to radians for trigonometric calculations. For degrees, make sure your input is in degree format.
How do I use the memory functions (MC, MR, M+, M-)?
Memory functions work as follows:
- MC (Memory Clear): Clears the memory to zero
- MR (Memory Recall): Recalls the value stored in memory
- M+ (Memory Add): Adds the current display value to memory
- M- (Memory Subtract): Subtracts the current display value from memory
A small purple dot indicates when memory contains a value.
Can I use keyboard shortcuts with the calculator?
Yes! Our calculator supports full keyboard input:
- Numbers 0-9: Enter corresponding numbers
- + - * /: Basic operations
- Enter or =: Calculate result
- Escape or Delete: Clear calculator
- Backspace: Delete last digit
- .: Decimal point
- %: Percentage
How do I calculate exponents and logarithms?
For exponent calculations:
- Enter the base number
- Click the "x^y" button
- Enter the exponent
- Click equals (=) to get the result
For logarithms:
- log: Calculates base-10 logarithm
- ln: Calculates natural logarithm (base e)
- Simply enter the number and click the log/ln button
Features
What scientific functions does the calculator support?
Our calculator supports a wide range of scientific functions:
- Trigonometric: sin, cos, tan (with degree/radian support)
- Logarithmic: log (base 10), ln (natural log)
- Exponential: x^y, 10^x, e^x (using EXP)
- Roots: Square root (√)
- Factorial: x! for any positive integer
- Constants: π (pi), e (Euler's number)
- Reciprocal: 1/x
- Percentage: Standard and compound calculations
Is the calculator responsive on mobile devices?
Yes! Our calculator is fully responsive and works perfectly on:
- Desktop computers and laptops
- Tablets (iPad, Android tablets)
- Smartphones (iPhone, Android phones)
The interface automatically adjusts to your screen size, and buttons are optimized for touch input on mobile devices.
Mobile Tip
On mobile devices, you can rotate your phone to landscape mode for a larger calculator display with easier button spacing.
Does the calculator support dark mode or different themes?
Currently, our calculator uses a fixed white, purple, and blue theme that we've carefully designed for optimal visibility and aesthetics.
The color scheme provides:
- High contrast for easy reading
- Reduced eye strain with balanced colors
- Clear differentiation between number, operation, and function buttons
We may add theme options in future updates based on user feedback.
Can I save or export my calculations?
Currently, the calculator operates in a single session without saving history. However, you can:
- Use the memory functions to store important values
- Copy results using standard copy-paste (Ctrl+C/Cmd+C)
- Screenshot the calculator for record-keeping
We're considering adding calculation history and export features in future updates.
Technical Questions
What browsers are supported?
Our calculator works on all modern browsers:
- Google Chrome (version 60+)
- Mozilla Firefox (version 55+)
- Safari (version 12+)
- Microsoft Edge (version 79+)
- Opera (version 50+)
For the best experience, we recommend using the latest version of your browser with JavaScript enabled.
Why is JavaScript required?
JavaScript is essential for our calculator because:
- All calculations are performed client-side in your browser
- It enables real-time interaction without page reloads
- It allows keyboard support and advanced features
- It provides smooth animations and transitions
No calculations are sent to servers - everything happens locally in your browser for maximum privacy and speed.
How accurate are the calculations?
Our calculator provides high-precision calculations using JavaScript's built-in Math library:
- Basic arithmetic: Up to 15 decimal places precision
- Trigonometric functions: Accurate to at least 10 decimal places
- Logarithmic functions: High precision for all valid inputs
- All calculations use double-precision floating-point format
Note
Like all digital calculators, there may be very small rounding errors in certain calculations due to floating-point arithmetic limitations.
Can I use the calculator offline?
Yes! Once the page has loaded, you can use the calculator completely offline because:
- All code runs locally in your browser
- No internet connection is needed for calculations
- External resources are cached by your browser
To ensure offline access:
- First visit the calculator website while online
- Allow the page to fully load
- You can then close your browser and reopen it offline
The calculator will work as long as the page remains in your browser cache.
